What Is the Vidyasamunnathi Scholarship?

Vidyasamunnathi, also written as Vidya Samunnathi or simply Samunnathi Scholarship, is a financial help scheme for students from economically weak families in forward communities of Kerala. Most government scholarships are made for reserved categories. This scheme fills that gap for students who do not fall under any reservation.

Students from high school to post graduation can apply. Special amounts are also given to students of professional courses like CA, ICWA and CS, and to those studying in national institutes such as IIT, IIM and NIT.

Example: How Anjali Applied (Fictional)

Anjali is a Class 12 student in Thrissur. Her father works as a shopkeeper and the family income is ₹2.8 lakh a year. She heard about the scheme from her teacher on 3 November. The same day, she got a fresh income certificate from the village office and asked her school for the institution certificate with the seal. On 4 November, she registered on kswcfc.org, filled the form, uploaded her documents and saved the acknowledgement. She applied three days before the last date, so she had time to fix a small mistake in her bank details. This is only an example to show the process.

Tips to Avoid Rejection

  • Apply at least 2 days before 7 November. The portal can become slow on the last day.
  • Take a fresh income certificate. Old or photocopied certificates may be rejected.
  • Make sure the institution certificate has the signature and seal.
  • Write your name and bank account number exactly as in the passbook.
  • Upload clear scans in PDF or JPG format.

Beware of Fake Websites

Every year, fake sites and agents target scholarship students. Apply only through the “Apply Now” links on kswcfc.org. Some old addresses, like the old “schemes” sub-site of KSWCFC and samunnathi.com, are outdated and may show unrelated content. Do not enter your personal details there. If you find a fake site, report it to the KSWCFC helpline 0471-2311215.
